Jolly and UNDP Turkey announced their new joint project, aiming to spread awareness on sustainable tourism to conserve Turkey's rich heritage and pass it on to future generations.

Jolly, one of the leading tourism companies in Turkey, announced that they aim to raise awareness in the field of sustainable tourism in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Turkey. Jolly had started the "My Heritage Turkey" campaign in the past years to leave Turkey's rich heritage to future generations. Today, it was indicated that these efforts on sustainable tourism will continue with this new collaboration with UNDP.

"We will endeavour to teach our heritage in every aspect to our children, the future of our country."

Jolly Chairman of the Board of Directors Mete Vardar expressed his views about the new cooperation as follows; “Until now, we have worked to promote the rich heritage of Turkey. But today, we know that we have a lot to do to protect our natural and cultural values and pass them on to the future generations. For this reason, we started a long-term journey with UNDP, aiming to raise awareness in the field of sustainable tourism”.

UNDP Turkey aims to develop sustainable tourism in Turkey through the supported projects by minimizing the negative effects of tourism on society and the environment, increasing tourism's contribution to the local economy, preserving natural and cultural heritage and improving the quality of life for visitors and host communities.

UNDP Turkey Assistant Resident Representative (Programme) Seher Alacacı Arıner’s comments underlined UNDP Turkey’s main focus on the project; "As UNDP Turkey, we see tourism as a key actor in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and we value and support innovative approaches and strong partnerships for the adoption of sustainable tourism. For this purpose, I believe that we will contribute to the protection of environmental and cultural values and local economic development in Turkey with this new cooperation we have established under the roof of My Heritage Turkey."

Jolly and UNDP Turkey aim to raise awareness among local people, children and their families in the field of sustainable tourism within the framework of the campaign. With the activities to be carried out jointly, the project partners aim to protect natural and cultural values and transfer them to future generations, thus contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The short film on My Heritage Turkey was also shown at the launching event, inviting everyone to be responsible tourists and leave a better tomorrow for future generations.
