1,651 representatives from various sectors discussed the effects and risks of climate change

Climate Change Vulnerability and Risk Analysis Scoping Meetings were completed between 15-22 March 2021 under Enhancing Climate Adaptation Action in Turkey Project.

Meetings were held in 12 separate online sessions and 1,651 stakeholder representatives from public institutions, the private sector, civil society, and academia gathered in different sector sessions. Following the speeches of sectoral experts, the participants shared the effects of climate change on their sectors.

Following the main session on vulnerability and risk analysis methodology, climate change impact chain and indicators, the sector sessions on water resources, agriculture, tourism/ cultural heritage, social development, health, industry, urban, transportation/ communication, energy and ecosystem (land-cost) sector sessions were held for 6 days. In each sector session, sectoral vulnerability and risk analysis methodology was consulted within the framework of climate hazards, exposure, sensitivity, adaptation capacity factors.

One of the overall objectives of Enhancing Climate Adaptation Action in Turkey Project is to build societal resilience by strengthening climate change adaptation at the sectoral level. These meetings also formed the basis for the development of a national adaptation strategy and action plan.
