These trainings aim to enhance service provision for disadvantaged groups at local level

December 24, 2020

In the scope of the Local Administration Reform Phase III Project of UNDP Turkey, capacity enhancement programs on urban awareness for the staff of Women Centres, Child Development Centres and other relevant social service units of the municipalities were organized in November-December 2020.

Local Administration Reform Phase III (LAR III) Project continues to contribute to the lives of people through its capacity enhancement and training programs.

The trainings aiming to enhance the service provision for disadvantaged groups at local level in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, were conducted online from the end of November to the end of December 2020.

These programs were determined based on the needs assessment for public awareness on urbanization targeting the disadvantaged groups including women, children, youth, elderly and disabled persons in 30 Metropolitan Municipalities.

LAR III Project aims to raise awareness on urban services and increase the disadvantaged groups’ benefit from those services and their satisfaction levels, as well as to discuss approaches to improve services through providing good practices.

The training programs were highly interactive with the participation of more than 300 staff and were also broadcast live on the project’s YouTube channel. They will be accessible as distance learning modules for all interested social service unit staff of municipalities countrywide.

It was also meaningful that the training calendar coincided with November 25th, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, December 3rd, International Day of Persons with Disabilities and December 10th, International Human Rights Day.
