Thousands of more young people said "I Can Manage My Money" in pandemic period

Trainings of "I Can Manage My Money" Project targeting young people to teach them financial literacy and budget management, have been carried out in online platforms such as YouTube and Zoom since March.

Online training sessions on Zoom are organized especially for university clubs. In the sessions held for small groups of 15-20 people, topics such as sample budget, savings, expenditure decisions, investment, borrowing, financial rights and obligations of consumers are covered. With 30 training sessions held since March, 1,126 young people have been trained.

Also, in webinars which are broadcasted live on Habitat Association’s YouTube channel, different topics such as budget management, spending habits, understanding macroeconomics, what to consider when investing, debt management, future economy and financial security are covered every week.

Webinars, given by experts in their fields were attended by 11,536 people in total.

“I Can Manage My Money” Volunteers Met Online

Volunteer trainers of “I Can Manage My Money” Project gathered online on 7 May 2020. The program started with the partners panel attended by the representatives of the project partners. Dilek Okkalı Şanalmış and Yıldız Yapar from the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, Sezai Hazır, President of Habitat Association, Hansın Doğan, UNDP Turkey Strategic Partnerships and Private Sector Programme Manager and Merve Tezel, General Manager of Visa Turkey discussed the 11-year success of the project, its partnership structure, the contribution of volunteer trainers to the project and the impact on Sustainable Development Goals. After the panel, the results of the impact analysis research conducted within the scope of the project trainings were shared by Prof. Dr. Emre Erdoğan from Infakto Research Company. The program, attended by 270 volunteer trainers was completed with online panels on issues such as financial awareness and responsible consumption.

Thanks to the contributions of volunteer trainers and dozens of cooperations they develop with local organizations, financial literacy training sessions for various target groups reached more than 1.7 million people in all 81 provinces of Turkey.

“I Can Manage My Money” Project, implemented in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Habitat Association and Visa Turkey, aims to raise awareness of young people on financial literacy and contribute to sustainable development.
