The Search Conference on “Establishing an Open Supply Chain in Garment Sector” was held in Istanbul within the context of Support to Development of a Policy Framework for Total Factor Productivity in Turkey Project, which is financed by the EU and the Republic of Turkey, implemented by the UNDP with the Ministry of Development as the final beneficiary.

Representatives of leading garment sector companies, NGOs and academicians participated in the conference led by Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association (IHKIB).

“We should not miss the digitalization”

The conference was made under the moderation of Associate Professor Oğuz Babüroğlu. Hikmet Tanrıverdi, Head of IHKIB, delivered a speech and said “This is the era, in which digitalization is everywhere, we should not miss it. With this Search Conference, we aim to reach positive results towards implementation regarding the sector.”

The principles of the digital supply chain have been put forward

Following the brainstorming on the future of changing industry in connection with digitalization and changing trends, working group session was conducted and the advantages and disadvantages of the sector were identified. Taking these advantages and disadvantages into consideration, principles were laid out for the establishment of an open digital supply chain for everyone in the garment sector. A framework for the design of the supply chain was also studied upon these principles.
