Conversations in Climate-ish Start!

September 20, 2019

Supported by UNDP Turkey and aiming to forge a common language in fighting the climate crisis, the Conversations in Climate-ish start.

Started by UNDP Turkey in search of a common language to encompass various segments of the society, particularly including the youth, in climate action, the Conversations in Climate-ish will be built on four separate themes, as the four key components of the climate crisis: Water, Agriculture and Food, Urban Life and Disasters.

These four thematic meetings will bring together Climateers who see the effects of the climate crisis, envision the future and translate the climate crisis into our daily lives.

The first of the Conversations in Climate-ish will be held on Tuesday, 24 September on “Conversations in Climate-ish: Water”. Hosted by UNDP Turkey Goodwill Ambassador Mert Fırat at DasDas in Ataşehir, Istanbul, the climate fighters will share experience, generate a common language and address the fight in a holistic approach.

Prioritising the commonality of experience of various social segments and vocational groups facing the climate crisis, the meeting will feature Akgün Çelik of Istanbul Policy Center (IPC), Fatih Özkadı of Arçelik and Hatice Dinç Sarısoy of the Nature Conservation Centre as speakers. The event will be moderated by Mert Fırat.

The Conversations in Climate-ish series will continue with “Agriculture and Food” on Tuesday, 8 October; “Disasters” on Tuesday, 15 October, and conclude with “Urban Life” on Tuesday, 5 November.
