Call for new projects on marine and coastal protected areas

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk, who is the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, made remarks at the closing conference of the “Strengthening the System of Marine and Coastal Protected Areas of Turkey" project. Öztürk underlined the success of the completed project and called all the related parties and the NGOs to propose new projects.


New Horizons - Undersecretary Mustafa Öztürk, UNDP Turkey Deputy Resident Representative Matilda Dimovska and General Director for Protection of Natural Assets of the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization Osman İyimaya.

İyimaya mentioned the protection-using balance, saying “We have to protect our seas white using them”.

Dimovska underlined the increase of protected areas

UNDP Turkey Deputy Resident Representative Matilda Dimovska underlined the important achievements made by the project and mentioned that the Turkey’s marine protection areas remarkably increased at the end of the project.

Dimovska emphasized that this increase is very important for the Mediterranean.

Call for new projects by Prof.Dr. Öztürk

Undersecretary Prof. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk pointed out the successful results achieved by the project in his speech.

Öztürk made clear that they are open to new projects saying “We wish these efforts to be guide for the next efforts”.
