Ankara - 2011 Edition of Human Development Report which has been prepared by the United Nations Development Programme will be launched in İstanbul, at the same time with the rest of the world.
Although living standards in most countries have been rising and converging for several decades, the 2011 Human Development Report projects a disturbing reversal of those trends if environmental deterioration and social inequalities continue to intensify, with the least developed countries diverging downwards from global patterns of progress by 2050.
The 2011 Report calls for new approaches to global development financing and environmental controls, arguing that these measures are both essential and feasible and that the challenges of sustainability and equity must be addressed together.
The Report will also feature the 2011 Human Development Index-a composite measure of health, education and income and its complementary indices. Journalists will be able to access the Human Development Report 2011 online.
