The first training on the greenhouse gas inventories was held
The First Training on the Greenhouse Gas Inventories was held in Ankara.
The first training on “Greenhouse Gas Inventories” within the context of the “Enabling Activities for Turkey’s Second National Communication to the Framework Convention on Climate Change” project was given by the international project expert Mr. Christo Christov on May 10, 2011 in Ankara. Training program focused on strengthening the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) system of the national inventory and calculation techniques on uncertainties.
The National Report on Greenhouse Gas Inventories is being prepared by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat). Quality Control and Quality Assurance System is an important component of greenhouse gas inventories. Important aspects and experiences at the international level were introduced during the training, National Quality Assurance and Quality Control Plan that was prepared by the international expert was introduced to the participants.
Another topic that was presented in the training was calculation of uncertainties. The methods employed in these calculations and various examples were introduced to the participants.
The meeting was hosted by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and the United Nations Development Programme. A total of 18 participants from public institutions which are involved in Turkey’s Greenhouse Gas nventory participated in the meeting.
The Enabling Activities for the Preparation of Turkey’s Second National Communication which will be submitted to the UNFCCC is financially supported by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), executed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry and implemented by the UNDP.
