Children's train departed

“Friendship Train”, which is designed in the context of a project run by United Nations Agencies (UNDP, UNICEF, UNESCO and UNWTO) in cooperation with Turkish Ministry of Culture, University of Ankara and Turkish Social Services and Child Protection Agency, departed from West of Turkey to the East.

Ankara - Children’s Museum Rooms and Friendship Train Project are financed by Spanish Government within the scope of Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund.

“Friendship Train”, in which 75 participants composed of children and adults from Provincial Children’s Rights Committees of Social Services and Child Protection Agency (SSCPA or SHÇEK) and representatives of shareholders were involved, departed on 18 April in the framework of a cooperation protocol between SSCPA and Turkish State Railways.

Journey of the train started in Istanbul and ended in Kars after stopping by Eskişehir, Ankara, Kayseri, Sivas, Erzincan and Erzurum respectively.

Various events were organized with an aim of introducing children’s rights in every city train passed by.

Friendship Train departed from Haydarpaşa Train Station in Istanbul with a farewell ceremony on 18 April and arrived in Kars on 21 April.
