International conference to fight corruption

In an effort to contribute to Turkey’s intensified efforts to fight corruption and promote democratic governance, the Republic of Turkey Prime Ministry Inspection Board, UNDP Turkey and UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre are jointly organizing an “International Conference on Anti-corruption Measures in Turkey and Around the Globe” in Ankara on 1-2 December, 2010.

The main objective of the Conference is to share knowledge and experiences on recent developments on anti-corruption and raise awareness within the public on the recently introduced national anti-corruption strategy in Turkey.

The International Conference on Anti-Corruption Measures is to be considered the first step and launching event of UNDP Turkey and the Turkish government’s “Support to Effective Implementation of National Anti-Corruption Strategy in Turkey” project, which is expected to lay the ground for a long-term partnership in the design and implementation of effective anti-corruption activities.

The preparation phase of the project was initiated by UNDP Turkey in March 2010 and included the conduction, in cooperation with the UNDP Bratislava Regional Centre, of an assessment of the prevention of corruption capacities of the Prime Ministry Inspection Board (PMIB).
