International symposium for e-government
Turkey’s Strategy on Information Society was discussed at the “International Information Society Symposium”.
The International Information Society Symposium was held in Ankara on November 1-2, 2006. It was being organized by Public Research Foundation (KAV), sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Turkish Telekom, TIKA, TODAIE, Microsoft and Cisco, and supported by the Ministry of Transport and TUBITAK. The Symposium was attended by the Minister of Transport Mr. Binali Yildirim as well as international participants, including the World Bank Specialist Prof. Subash Bhatnagar, UNDP Eastern Europe e-Governance Coordinator Mr. Yuri Misnikov and Director of Estonia e-Government Academy Mr. Ivar Tallo.
The theme of the Symposium was the concept of e-transformation in public governance. Specialists from Turkey’s neighbour countries as well as Turkish experts held panels on the second day of the event, during which they discussed the technical aspects of the subject.
Turkey’s information society strategy was appraised thoroughly at the Symposium by specialists from public institutions, universities, private sector, NGOs and related international organizations, who shared their knowledge and experiences on the issue of e-transformation and e-governance.
