Industrial property rights at the heart of a dynamic and innovative economy

International Symposium on Industrial Property Rights in Turkey & Neighbouring Countries" The Turkish Patent Institute (TPI), the UNDP together with the State Planning Organization, the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), Ankara University Research Center On Intellectual and Industrial Property Rights (FISAUM) organized a symposium on "International Ownership In Turkey and Neighbouring Countries" at the TPI Headquarter in Ankara (17 November 2005).

The symposium brought together practitioners and policy makers - from the legal profession, research & academia, business associations, government - to discuss best practices and lessons learned on the application of property protection. Participants came from: Russia, the Caucasus (Georgia & Azerbaijan), Central Asia (Kazakhstan), North Africa & Middle East (Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, Syria) to benefit from information exchange and generate ideas for future cooperation.

The event received the financial support from a global initiative known as Technical Cooperation among Developing Countries (TCDC) which supports international exchanges between developing countries. TCDC is managed and co-funded here in Turkey jointly by the UNDP and the State Planning Organization.
