Our Funding and Delivery

Where our money comes from and what we spend it on?

UNDP has various financial resources. These resources and funding mechanisms fall into two main categories:

Regular Resources are the voluntary contributions of countries. Besides providing a source of income for county offices, they are also being used for meeting countries’ special needs for development or preventing severe crises.

Other Resources fall into two categories as loan funds and parallel financing:

  • Loan funds consist of supports from both governmental and non-governmental parties including private institutions and individuals. These resources are being used for short-term projects having net effects and that are conducted within the scope of thematic areas determined by UNDP and also for supporting other global and regional enterprises.
  • As for the parallel financing, in implementation of a joint programme or a project, grantor parties manage their own resources by joining UNDP. In such circumstances, these funds does not fall into the UNDP accounts but are utilized in UNDP projects.
