Giulio Quaggiotto is the Practice Leader, Knowledge and Innovation for UNDP’s Regional Center for Eastern Europe and CIS. He heads a team responsible for researching the latest trends in technology and citizen engagement and exploring ways to turn them into development results on a cheap budget! His interests include social innovation, big data for development and social media. Prior to joining UNDP, he worked at the World Bank where he managed the launch of a corporate social collaboration platform and introduced social network analysis as a way to understand information flows.
Assoc. Prof. Esra Arsan received her Ph.D from the Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Journalism at Marmara University, Turkey. She has worked as a lecturer in journalism at Istanbul Bilgi University, Turkey, between 1998 and 2012. Currently, as a member of Institute of Social Sciences, she is working for the Cultural Studies program at the same university. She is currently working on the cultural narratives of war and peace in Turkish news media.
Suat Özçağdaş is the founding partner of Social Innovation Center. Özçağdaş held executive positions at major civil society organizations such as International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), Turkish Red Crescent Society (Kızılay) and Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey. He established and managed psycho-social support programs in Turkey, Kosovo and Indonesia during his career at Red Cross-Red Crescent Movement.
Ahu Özyurt is a senior editor and writer in CNN Turk. Özyurt has been working as an active reporter since 1993. Özyurt completed her bachelor’s degree in Boğaziçi University on management and her master in Colombia University. Özyurt whose articles have been published in Huffington Post, The Majalla and Hürriyet Daily News is known to be the first reporter who entered American Embassy in Tehran after 34 years. Özyurt has more than 320.000 followers on Twitter and now works on a book with Mete Yarar, Security Policies Expert.
Ayşegül Güzel is one of the coordinators of Zumbara.org. Güzel is also a member of Global Leadership Council – NetSquared. Her areas of expertise include social entrepreneurship, social change, social technologies, social networking, social innovation, alternative economy and gift culture.
Pelin Kuzey graduated from International Relations department of Political Science Faculty in Ankara University in 1999. Kuzey completed her master’s degree in University of London School of Oriental and African Studies. She began to work in EU and Foreign Affairs Department of Finance Ministry in 2000. She started to work for Google Turkey on March 2012.
Erhun Baş is the Vice President for Public and Economic Affairs in Ericsson Turkey. Baş used to work as a senior EU Specialist at the Secretariat General for EU Affairs. Before that he served as a Research Assistant at NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Being a graduate of the Department of International Relations of the Middle East Technical University (METU), Erhun BAŞ also holds a Master’s degree from Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University.
Cem Arslan is a UN Volunteer. He used to work in Habitat Center for Development and Governance as the Project Coordinator. Arslan also co-founded ‘Ben1Gönüllüyüm’, a website dedicated to gather volunteers in one platform, to map the projects in need of volunteers and to increase community engagement in Turkey. He is also one of the founding partners of ‘Duyarlı OzU” which is a social initiative facilitating community engagement projects at Özyeğin University.
Uygar is a civil society activist who was the founding chairman of Doğa Derneği (BirdLife Partner in Turkey), founding member of Civil Society Development Center (STGM). Before joining change.org as the Eastern Europe and West Asia Director he was Assistant Professor of Environmental Science at Erciyes University; Environmental Specialist at UNDP, Executive Director of TEMA, and Greenpeace Mediterranean. Currently he is also on the board of CIVICUS – World Alliance for Citizen Participation.
Evin Taş works as Cisco Networking Academy Manager in Cisco Systems, and is responsible for Cisco's CSR initiatives in Turkey. Taş used to be a United Nations Volunteer, coordinating ICT for development projects. Majored in Industrial Engineering, she also has a paper published on ' ICT Education for Development: A case Study'.
Yiğit Kalafatoğlu who won an award with its personal blog “yicit.com” opened in 2005, is the Chief Executive of Utopic Farm, Turkey's one of the first and leading social media agencies founded in 2009. Kalafatoğlu currently pursues his PhD on Communication Studies at Bilgi University. He also coordinates the Social Media Academy in Kadir Has University and lectures in Knowledge and Innovation Management (MBA) programme of Yeditepe University.
Ali Ercan Özgür is the founder and managing partner of International Development Management Partners (IDEMA). Özgür is also a board member and Secretary General of Corporate Social Responsibility Association of Turkey. Previously, he served as the Executive Director of American Chamber of Commerce in Turkey. He started his civil society career at Youth for Habitat International Network as International Relations Coordinator in 2001.
